Diagnose precisely
A working diagnosis before any intervention — clinical exam first, then targeted imaging (ultrasound or MRI) only when it will change the plan.
Consultant · Interventional MSK · Sports Medicine
UK-trained. Aims to minimise unnecessary surgical interventions, build movement first, and let ultrasound-guided regenerative medicine do the work the body was built to do. Consults at Adria Medical (Abu Dhabi) and DISC (Dubai), in English or Arabic.
One visit: assessment · ultrasound · intervention
Dr. Shimas Salih is a UK-trained Consultant in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine — helping athletes, professionals and families return to the lives they love, with ultrasound-guided accuracy and genuinely personal care.
In the UAE since 2022 — Healthpoint, then DISC Sports Medicine, and now primary practice at Adria Medical (Abu Dhabi) — his work aims to minimise unnecessary surgical interventions. Conservative, exercise-led, and ultrasound-guided regenerative care when the body can repair itself.
Fewer surgeries. Better movement. Measurable recovery.

52procedures · 9 areasEvery pathway begins here — a working picture of the joint, tendon, muscle or nerve, in the room, before a treatment decision.
The body's own repair, concentrated and placed under live ultrasound — PRP, whole blood, hyaluronic acid and prolotherapy, for the joints and tissues that wear.
Pain that follows a nerve gets a nerve-level answer — epidurals, facet and paraspinal blocks, and hydrodissection for the specific pressure that is causing it.
The most common complaints I treat — rotator cuff, calcific tendons, frozen capsulitis, and the hemiplegic shoulder after stroke.
The deep spaces around the hip — psoas and ischial bursae, piriformis — and the joint itself, reached with millimetre precision.
The athlete's list — every overuse tendon in the body, plus compartment-pressure testing, haematoma aspiration, and return-to-play after tears.
From the sole to the Achilles insertion — plantar fascia, metatarses, Morton's neuroma, and the bursae that hold up the heel.
Precision botulinum toxin — focal spasticity of trunk and limbs, chronic muscle tightness, sialorrhoea, paediatric cerebral palsy, chronic migraine, and the jaw.
The fingers and the wrist — trigger points, De Quervain's, the extensor intersections, and the small entrapment nerves of the palm.
A working diagnosis before any intervention — clinical exam first, then targeted imaging (ultrasound or MRI) only when it will change the plan.
Conservative, exercise-led care first. Ultrasound-guided regenerative procedures when the body can repair itself — interventions that are minimal, image-checked, and proposed only when they change the outcome. Never a default, never a reflex to surgery.
Structured exercise prescription — movement medicine, healthy living. Measurable return-to-baseline targets, with a plan you can feel in your joints, not just your head.
Football, running, tennis, and court and contact sports. The assessment that matters for sport is not just the injury — it is what the athlete can do, and when they can do it safely again.
Diagnostic ultrasound puts the problem in front of us before it goes in front of you — no guesswork, no unnecessary injections, no delay.
What we see, we map: tendon, cartilage, ligament, nerve. Then we choose the least invasive path that will actually work — with a rehabilitation plan attached from day one.
The pathway every patient travels — seen the way Dr. Salih sees it: at the scanner, under the probe, and back in motion.
High-resolution MSK ultrasound reveals tendon tears, joint effusions and nerve irritation in real time — in the room, during your first visit.
Every needle is placed under live ultrasound — PRP, steroid or hyaluronic acid delivered exactly where it heals, and nowhere it shouldn't.
Structured, measurable rehabilitation rebuilds strength and confidence — until the joint moves the way it was designed to.
How the consultation really runs — from talking through your case to the scanner to the needle to the plan.

Every patient walks in with a story — a bad morning, a missed season, a knee that creaks on the stairs. Every patient should walk out with a plan, a reason to be optimistic, and a timeline they can see.
That is why the consultation is as important as the intervention — history, exam, imaging, and a rehab plan that fits the athlete, office-worker, or parent actually sitting next to me.
My sincere thanks and appreciation — for putting me on the right path to recovery.

“I can fully support this; not only as a fellow doctor, and also as a patient. Dr. Shimas treated my own frozen shoulder, and I experienced firsthand his great professionalism and excellent technique. Highly recommended!”
“After two very hard years with a shoulder injury that kept me away from swimming, I finally swam 500 meters without pain. Then I found Dr. Pablo Menéndez, who guided me to a specialist who dissolved the calcification, injected my own plasma, and gave me physiotherapy — now I swim crawl without pain. The most important 500 meters of my life. Thank you, Dr. Shimas.”
“My sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Shimas for his exceptional care. With God’s help, his expertise helped identify my chronic injury and put me on the right path to recovery. Truly grateful for your dedication and support.”

For most private consultations, no referral is required. A few insurance plans do require prior authorisation — the clinic will run this with your insurer when you book.
Adria MC and DISC work with most of the major UAE insurance panels. Confirm your plan with the clinic when you book; if authorisation is needed, the clinic runs it.
Platelet Rich Plasma is a regenerative treatment prepared from your own blood. It suits certain tendinopathies and joint conditions — not every injury. It is proposed only when it is expected to change your outcome; not as a default.

Ultrasound-guided injections are performed under local anaesthetic with fine needles. Most patients describe brief discomfort rather than pain, and can usually resume normal activity quickly.
Yes. While sports medicine is a special interest, Dr. Salih treats patients of all ages and activity levels — from everyday joint and tendon pain to complex neurological rehabilitation.
